Calculators give estimates

Every calculator states its assumptions on its page. Dosing results assume the salt is the pure compound named, fully dissolved in the volume you enter, and report concentrations in mg/L, which equals ppm in fresh water. Label-percentage products are calculated from the manufacturer's guaranteed minimum analysis, so real amounts can be slightly higher. CO2 estimates from KH and pH are valid only when carbonate is the only significant buffer in the water.

Plant data is quoted, not tested

Plant ratings are the grower's published values. We do not grow plants for the site or test them; where a grower does not publish a value we say so. Conditions in your tank may differ from the grower's assumptions.
