Taxonomy

Accepted names, authorities, families, synonyms and native and introduced ranges come fromThe World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP), published by Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (dataset version 2026-06-04) through GBIF under theCreative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. Links to Plants of the World Online (POWO) use identifiers from the International Plant Names Index (IPNI). The records were retrieved on 2026-10-12 with the script in the site's repository (npm run refresh-taxonomy).

Grower plant data

Light demand, CO2 demand, growth rate, height, type, origin and difficulty ratings are quoted from the plant detail pages ofTropica Aquarium Plants, accessed 2026-10-12. Each plant profile and each row of theparameter table links the exact page used. The table lists only the plants that have a profile here; it is not a copy of Tropica's catalog. Where a profile also cites Aquasabi or another grower, that page is linked in the profile's sources. Descriptions are paraphrased, not copied.

Chemistry

Molar masses are computed from the IUPAC/CIAAW conventional standard atomic weights. Molar masses and solubilities are checked againstPubChem (National Library of Medicine). The CO2 calculator uses the carbonic acid dissociation constant fit of Plummer and Busenberg (1982); water density follows Tanaka et al. (2001). Each calculator page cites its sources.

Illustrations and fonts

The logo, scales, gauges and diagrams are original SVG drawings made for this site. No third-party photographs are used. Headings use Sora (Copyright 2019 The Sora Project Authors) and text uses Figtree (Copyright 2022 The Figtree Project Authors), both under theSIL Open Font License 1.1, served from this site.
