About PlantedMath
A reference for the numbers in planted freshwater aquariums: dosing, CO2, water chemistry and plant data.
PlantedMath is published by PlantedMath, based in the United States. It has two parts. The calculators turn fertilizer salts, KH and pH readings, tank dimensions and water changes into numbers, and print the formula and constants behind each result. The plant reference collects what growers publish about commonly kept aquarium plants, adds the accepted scientific name and native range from the World Checklist of Vascular Plants, and notes official invasive-species listings.
Why it exists
Dosing advice for planted tanks is often passed around as rules of thumb with no arithmetic attached. The same handful of salts can be described in teaspoons, ppm of an ion, ppm of an element or percentages of an oxide, and it is easy to get a factor of three wrong. This site does the conversion openly so that you can check it.
What the site does not cover
Plants only. There is no fish health, fish medication or livestock care advice here; where a source warns that something (for example excess CO2) can harm animals, the page repeats the warning and points to the source. Nothing on the site is professional, legal or veterinary advice.
How pages are written
Pages are drafted with AI assistance from the sources they cite, and each page states whether the editor has reviewed it. We do not run test tanks and do not report personal results. The full method is on How we make this.
